Renewal of Philippine Passport in Doha Qatar

It was time for my friends philippine passport to be change because it will now expire within a month. Since we are here working in Doha, Qatar. He asked my other colleagues on how to apply for a new philippine passport. Although here is the detailed process and documents you might be needing in renewing your own passport.

Since my own passport will expire in November 2010, i have decided to go with him to see for myself on how to apply for renewal, which documents, pictures should i bring when its my time to renew. We went there at the Philippine Consulate Office located at AL Eithar Saha 2 Street, even we were lost on how to go there, i have managed to use my mobile phones GPS to go to the right direction. As we went inside, there were postings on where to go if you want to renew passport, get a marriage certificate, and other necessary documents a pinoy needs. Inside, there was a line where you will submit your documents, at the end of the line, there were only two(2) windows. First window is for checking your documents, Second window is the cashier.Application forms were only scattered around the room, since there was person to ask or billboard on how to apply.

As we waited for the long line, you will present your documents where my friend submits his old passport and pictures. It pass the necessary documents!! Since i was there, i managed to bring myself ID pictures to show the checker if my pictures are ok to use or not. WALAH! my Id's did not pass their requirement, they said that the blue background is pail. But,before i went there i have cut the same size my friends ID was taken, which was in Carrefour Kodak photoshop. They charge 30Qr, while you can take also this same picture, with blue background on other photoshops at 10-12Qr ONLY! What i cannot understand is that they are checking the kind of picture on where you have taken this picture, if the picture is clear, and not if the person on the picture is YOU!!! I will show you what is the difference of this picture taken in Carrefour - Kodak and taken in other Photo studio.

As i am waiting for my friend to finish the renewal of his passport, i was standing beside the line and a lot of people's picture was rejected on that day alone....And they only recommend to take your picture on that photo studio in Carrefour, no where else. So people here in Doha, who wants to renew their passport, go straight to carrefour to take your pictures there. If not, then go to DFA in Manila to check if your other picture will pass. Which i will do mine there!
